Community Involvement

As a good corporate citizen, CMC believes we have a responsibility to make our communities stronger, healthier and more vibrant. Through in-kind gifts, donations and employee volunteerism, we focus on the following:

  • Health and social issues dealing with the family
  • Arts and cultural organizations
  • Educational programs

CMC believes that corporate giving is the right and responsible thing to do.

Community-Based Job Training Program
Since 1989, CMC has been involved in a work training program for young adults ages 16-21 with developmental disabilities. This program provides an opportunity for the students to learn the necessary work and social skills needed to gain employment. It also gives our employees a chance to see first-hand that people with disabilities can become active and contributing members of their community.

Dallas Arts Magnet School
CMC is the proud sponsor of an ongoing metal sculpting class at Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. We also underwrite the annual "Scrap Can Be Beautiful" contest.

CMC believes its partnership with this local high school is a good example of how the private and public sectors can work together to raise a community's quality of life. Visit our Scrap Art Gallery to experience these wonderful works of art.

Employee Volunteerism
Part of being a good corporate citizen includes encouraging employees to donate not only their money, but their time and talent. Our employees are actively involved in the following programs:

  • Mentoring and tutoring local elementary school children whom are at risk.
  • Food, clothing, and various other drives to assist families in need.
  • A running/walking team that raises money for several charitable causes.
  • Serving on boards of local agencies.

One Saturday each year is designated as "CMC Cares Day" when employees and their families volunteer their time and talents to perform tasks such as yard work, housecleaning, painting and minor repairs at a local senior citizen's house.
